Memorial Park Washes Away Your Stress
This is one of the largest parks in Colorado Springs. It is open year round and has something for everyone to do. Homes in the area are definitely older and smaller than other parts of Colorado Springs. Subdivisions to consider are Eastlake and Prospect Park. In the summer, you can enjoy Prospect Lake and go boating, fishing, water skiing, swimming, or rent paddle boats. There is also a large picnic area for a casual lunch or birthday party.

The United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs
The academy is set on 18,000 acres along the western foothills of Colorado Springs homes and Monument homes. President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed a bill in 1954 that authorized the building of the academy. The first group of cadets came to the campus in 1958 and every year after a new class has started.

Colorado Springs Memorial Hospital
Memorial Hospital is owned by the citizens of Colorado Springs. It has grown from a small hospital in 1904 of 16 beds to 700+ beds currently. They receive no taxpayer support and will treat anyone who comes in, regardless of insurance or the inability to pay. In 2007, they contributed over $80 million in uncompensated care and other benefits to the community.

Back in the late 1880's there was a train derailment in Leadville that injured 60 workers. B.P. Anderson and 4 sisters from St Francis went door to door to raise money for a hospital in Colorado Springs. Thus, St Francis was born as the first hospital in the city. The school was named after Winfield Scott Stratton, one of Colorado's early mining millionaires and known for his charitable acts. Monuments Lewis Palmer High School-District 38
District 38 was started in 1874, in the TriLakes area homes, with a one room schoolhouse that served 1st-8th graders. Over the years, the district expanded until there was a need to have a separate high school. That need happened in 1957 when a new high school was built at 66 Jefferson Street in Monument, Lewis Palmer High School.
